the golden compass

Lyra is a young girl that is taken on an adventure as she starts to develop into a young women. The story of her uncle that goes on an quest in the northern pole leads the story threw an adventure to try and save him and find out where she really came from. It's a coming of age tale that follows similar stories like the Narnia  books and Harry Potter, where young people are given the opportunity to play a large roles that most children would never have. It's kind of like the tale of a Spider Man or super hero character.  I always like stories like this, because their the factor where you can relate when you were a child growing up, so you have a better understanding what she was going threw and you can relate. Even when you are little it's great to read, because it gives you the story of someone else like you who has become a hero, but I think for young people its something that is an inspiration for them. The added characters like the demons are awesome. They show what a person is feeling and I found it to be a great way to communicate differently how characters were feeling then from other books in this genera. The thing i like most about this genera is they are able to kind pull from the two others scfi and horror. and turn it into there own thing. all in all it was a great read.

The Hobbit

The Hobbit

The story of the young hobbit Bilbo as a burglar, takes him threw middle earth to return treasures  that were taken from the dwarfs by a dragon. the story is a classic adventure and is the back bone tot he lord of the ring trilogy. The story is great I always loved the lord of the rings stories and so reading this was quite enjoyable. the author goes into to much detail for me, but that in turn is what makes these stories so strong in the end.

Tolkien to day is scene as the farther of modern fantasy. He was inspired by many stories such as Beowolf as well.

The Kwaidan book was a grouping of short stories about ghost and the strange things.

a buddhas temple was created to stop the the troubling ghost, but that still didn't stop them fully. the story of the blind man was that he was summoned by the priest.

he was later summoned by a women and he played for her master as well.
the priest found out that he was going out late at night and thought that a demon had bewitched him. The blind man went out again and the the priest told his servant to accompany him.  the servant finds him in the cemetery and thinks that he is truly bewitched.

In Class. Why are zombie movies so popular?

Why are zombie movies so popular?

I think the big idea of Zombie movies is that you are dealing with a human like character that is not human. It's the association, like gods or demons, but i think the thing that really pushes is that, you the individual that it can happen to you. Anybody can be changed into a zombie. and this idea that the common person can be changed, really hits home with a lot of people. Entertainment has really exploited the zombie movies. everything from games and movies people just can't seem to get enough.

Monster Island post

A group of people are in ny which is infested with zombies, the story seems to move back and fourth which had me confused at first. I had a hard time keeping up, but the subject of zombies was great. The story goes into detail like how the body dies, I think these point are important, because they help give the story backing. Making it real. Also story seems to be more about what's going on then the characters. It's kind of cool. I have never read a novel that goes in this directions. It's all about everything is going around you and that to me makes it that much more real. the story seems to jump around a little bit, but overall I under stand what's going on. I had a clear understand of the city and what had happen. I have never read a zombie novel before and the only relationship I had with the novel was with games like left for dead which to me, plays with the same ideas as monster island. Where you have a small group of people that survived in this wild environment that ones was New York City. I think the idea of somthing like this happening really gets to us, and i think because whenyou hear about a zombie tale, at leat for me, its always the enviroments. its the peacefulness and norm that you feel in a small town or the big city like New York and you introduce and idea such as zombies to the environment, it makes it that much more believable. You can relate to it on a much closer level.
